RAMALLAH, (Alquds.com) - "Security coordination is sacred and we are going to continue it with Israel despite calls by numerous Palestinian figures and factions to halt it," said president Abbas before Israeli peace activists in his headquarters in Ramallah.
Palestine President reiterated also his rejection of the one-state solution as an alternative to the two-state solution – an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders alongside Israel.
During his meeting with members of the Israeli peace forum, the President said the facts on the ground pointed to Israel’s shift towards a one-state solution, accusing the Israeli government of not maintaining its so-called democracy.
“If you do not give us our freedom and democracy, then you are not democratic either,” he said. Abbas also called on the Israeli government to resume negotiations, saying: “We want to return to negotiations, which the Israelis halted, but the Israelis must first release the fourth batch of prisoners and halt settlements,” adding that the alternative was an impasse, which is very dangerous.
He also reiterated the Palestinian requirements for a return to the negotiating table, including a halt to settlements.
